Autumn and Skittles

STATUS: Available

Meet Autumn (calico-tabby, female) and Skittles (orange tabby, male)! This brother-sister duo are approximately 10 months old and are in search of a foster-to-adopt placement in a loving forever home.

Autumn & Skittles have had quite the journey in foster care. As kittens, they were brought in with severe eye complications. Autumn’s eyes healed perfectly and she has no remaining visual issues. Skittles’ eyes remain covered in a thin layer of inflammatory scar tissue. This tissue obscures his vision and causes him to have less than 50% total vision across both eyes. Being functionally blind does not slow him down in the slightest; he has adapted very well to his limited sight and faces no further complications from it.

At around 4 months old, Autumn and Skittles were diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis or FIP. We were able to enroll them in a treatment study, which they successfully completed. On June 6, 2023, Autumn and Skittles were officially declared FIP-free and are showing no signs of the disease. They are not contagious and are not facing any additional complications of the disease. Autumn’s bloodwork has come back slightly atypical, however, and we would like to monitor her for 6 months before re-examining to ensure she is improving. She has no clinical symptoms of any diseases and is not considered a health risk to other animals. For this reason, we are seeking a foster-to-adopt placement. Hearts to Homes will cover all medical costs prior to adoption and ensure both cats pass a health check by our veterinarians.

Autumn and Skittles are playful and VERY loving. They love to curl up with you on the sofa or in bed for a good snuggle. They are both very talkative and are not shy about telling you when they want your attention! They are deeply bonded and we are looking for a home to keep them together forever. They are good with other cats and gentle children, and would do okay with a gentle, cat-savvy dog given a proper introduction.

Autumn and Skittles are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, negative for FIV/FELV, and have been preventatively treated for fleas and worms. If you have room in your heart and your home for this loving duo, please email us at [email protected].
